Fair enough – this isn't an easy film to like if you're not a fan of Luhrmann's work… I am, so perhaps I was prepared to overlook more of the "melodramatic" elements the film contained, but I can see how this might have annoyed a lot of folks. Thanks for the words, Mark!

Having said that, two of the good points you make are:

(1) The Darwin attack (and the aftermath) had Bay's Pearl Harbour tatooed all over it, and;

(2) Ms Walker's cinematography was absolutely stunning.
