While I would never use the word "subtle" to describe anything Will Ferrell did, I think you hit it right on the head with "restraint", which is something Jim Carrey's learnt over the years. I happily admit to despising Ferrell in just about everything I'd seen him in (with the exceptions being Anchorman and Stranger Than Fiction), and while I could still picture his face while watching Megamind, it wasn't as obtrusive a vocal job as I'd expected going in. I haven't seen Everything Must Go yet, but I've heard good things about it – enough to make me think it'll be worth a look, anyways.

I am reviewing Everything Must Go this week in which I praise him for his subtle acting. who'd have thought that it was possible?
