Hmmm, I guess it could have been better had they made Bradley Cooper more hedonistic with his "powers", but I think it was more realistic this way - and I think that worked to make the film feel grittier and less fantastical. But I get what you're saying, my friend!

I kinda liked Limitless but given the premise, I was shocked by how little creativity was put into the plot. I mean if you imagine yourself getting that pill, you would go to town with the limitless amount of awesome scenarios you could put yourself in. None of that in this movie sadly... I thought it was kinda poorly paced and I just wasn't a big fan of the direction of the movie. In any case, decent flick enough but could have been so much more with a better script and director.

Thanks Fitz! I don't really understand the online rage against Cooper as a genuine leading man, because I always find him eminently watchable. Even when he's at 110% in films such as The A Team, he still has charisma and effortless screen charm, and there's not too many younger actors coming along (you mentioned Gosling, who could also fit right in as an A-lister leading man) who can boast that skill. Cooper vs Gosling, eh? Sounds like it'll be a real battle of the smouldering good looks, right?

I was intrigued by the prospect of the film, didn't overhype it, and was very pleasantly surprised by the whole affair. Cooper is looking more and more like a leading man and I cannot wait to see what he will do with Ryan Gosling in The Place Beyond the Pines.

Thanks Chris! I agree re the ending being the weakest part, and in hindsight I think you're right about the filmmakers not knowing how to "finish" the film properly, with any kind of resolution that would appeal to audiences. I think had the film tried to focus more on the sinister implications of the "medicine", as you put it, this could have worked as a genuine genre thriller, instead of the popcorn yarn it turned out to be. Thanks for dropping by!

Better than expected. Good review, as you say, an interesting "what if" premise. If we are all at the top of our game and felt no pain, what would the world look like? Limitless is so relevant today I think, a warning about all the side-effects of medicine. On top of that was an entertaining movie, and for the girls there was B.Cooper. I thought the ending was a bit sudden and the weakest part, as if they didn’t know how to finish the film. 7.5/10 for me

Actually not that bad. It was far from perfect but I was happily surprised despite some fairly large plot holes. Nice review

@ Al - I have dibs on first option on that movie. you write the script, I'll direct and no doubt Miss D can play Ryan Gosling's fluffer..... ;)

@ Ruth - Yeah, I gather from reviews and articles around the web that Cooper is a bit of a hit-and-miss appeal for most people.... You should give this a shot, though. It's worth at least <em>one </em>look!

This movie sort of flew past me, I just wasn't interested in it for whatever reason. Maybe it's the lead actor, I actually find Cooper's gorgeous mug rather irritating, ha!
