Ugh, it still makes me mad that Brave won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It was so average and meh.

i slept through this one on the plane so, as thoroughly qualified as i am to analyze it, i'd like to say i saw Wreck it Ralph last night and had my faith in CGI animated films restored. Hell, even my kids, who are so deep into their teens i have to trick them into watching animated films with me, liked it. As for Brave…i liked what i saw!

In reply to rtm. You know what? I was so keen to see how Pixar handled their first leading lady, and I just couldn't get past the hand-me-down story and fairly generic narrative. I really thought it was a good film as far as animation goes, but the characters felt a little.... flat. Merida was well developed, sure, but aside from her the rest of the film never attained the lofty goals I had hoped for. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, Ruth! :)

Bummer Rodney! I happen to adore this one and I think it's one of the most enjoyable and creative Pixar's offerings. I like the story and the mother/daughter dynamic, the dysfunctional family and all that. Of course seeing a female heroine is a welcome change from Pixar as well. I was pleasantly surprised how hilarious it is too, I hadn't laughed that hard in the cinema in a while. Ah well, can't please everybody I guess.
