In reply to darksock. Thanks Darksock, you're spot on with your assessment. As I mentioned in my review, this really is my favorite Coen film, because of the nuance and subtlety they insert into this (and all) film. If i'm in a bad mood or having a crappy week, I have been known to slide OBWAT into the DVD player and give it a whirl; and I usually find I'm feeling better by the end. Thanks for stopping in, and I'm glad you enjoyed the review!

I'm from the Magnolia State- spent my early childhood growing up in a small rental house carved out of a cotten field outside of the tiny town of Cleveland, Mississippi – and I can tell you the Coen Brothers did that most rare of things: in spite of hailing from Hollywood they NAILED the nuanced southern gothic of north MS. I have never enjoyed a movie as much as this one; I've probably watched it a dozen times and it never gets old, like visiting an old friend. I was glad to read your review and see someone else "got it". It was clearly a labor of love for the Coens. Huzzah!

In reply to Nick Powell. Ha ha, yeah, there's a lot of love for this film, isn't there. I admit, this was one of the easiest reviews I've probably ever had to write - it's such a great film, there's almost no negatives to it at all!
