In reply to brikhaus. I never got the ambivalence to this film. I mean, it's soooo meta, well before being meta became a thing. Sure, it has it's problems, but it's Arnie plus explosions plus Charles Dance plus action. What's not to love?

Nice review, as usual. I haven't watched this since I was a kid, but I always thought it was unfairly maligned. Even as a kid I was able to pick up on the film's obvious satire of action movies. Is the viewing public really so dense they didn't get this movie? I suppose I should rewatch it someday.

Well argued review as usual Rodney. I’m a big fan of the film – I think it strikes a nice balance between comedy and action with Schwarzenegger doing a perfect job in that self-referential role. The whole magic ticket thing is brilliant!
