In reply to Wendell. This one teeters on the brink of being great, I think. I mean it has all the classic genre elements, thrown together in a way that pays homage to, and further extends, on the premise of the original film.

In reply to brikhaus. Although it definitely has elements of "sequelitis", DH2 is a ripper of a film. I think it's one of those rare sequels that gets so close to being as good as the original, it's hard to tell the difference.

Good review. I never quite understood when people said Die Hard 2 was just as good as the first. Is it good? Yes. Is it as good as the gold standard for all action movies? Of course not. How could it be? It's the typical sequel, bigger, louder, more explosions, etc. But the script is decent, and Willis is awesome, so it's hard to complain too much. I can't wait to read your reviews of the other films in the franchise.
