That’s it, it doesn’t pander. Had it done so the film would have been just as cloying as all the rest of “modern” animated movies of this ilk.

This is a wonderful movie, full of all sorts of charm. Best of all, even though it’s (mostly) meant for kids, it never feels like it’s pandering. It’s just telling a great story in a great way with a great message.
