Ohhh, you’re not going to like my review of The Dig next week, then. LOL

Seriously though, there are a lot of actors of late transitioning into really great directors – Regina King absolutely slayed with One Night In Miami, for example – and the talent coming through the ranks of writing is also something to savour. Fennell strikes me as kind of an esoteric talent, a little like Sofia Coppola in that regard. I can’t wait to see what she does next!

Excellent review, Rodney! You put into words everything I wanted to say about this film so eloquently. I actually just saw this for the first time last week and still thought about it quite a bit, but haven’t had a chance to actually review it yet. I am nodding at a lot of the points you made here. I was surprised to find out that Fennell was the actress who played Camilla in the 4th season of The Crown. Wow, what a phenomenal debut indeed. I LOVE Carey Mulligan and having just seen The Dig + this film within a week of each other, I’ve become even more of a fan. What a range!!
